Why are they called 'lion's mane'?
The name 'lion's mane' comes from their appearance. Their bell, which can be quite large, is often reddish-brown and surrounded by a dense mass of long, flowing tentacles that resemble a lion's mane. This impressive visual was likely part of what caught Iestyn Morgan's eye when he filmed the massive specimen near Trefin Beach.
