Why are some records unofficial?
Not all impressive feats in sports count towards official records. Rules dictate specific conditions for a performance to be recognised, such as occurring in a regular season game or a sanctioned event. Butker's kick, despite its distance, didn't meet the criteria for inclusion in the NFL record book.
