Who was Norway's first queen?
Norway's first queen was Maud of Wales, who became queen consort in 1905 when her husband, Prince Carl of Denmark, was elected King Haakon VII of Norway. This marked the end of Norway's union with Sweden. Princess Astrid's mother, Crown Princess Märtha, would have been queen if she hadn't died before her husband became king.
