What was the West Africa outbreak?

The 2014-16 West Africa Ebola outbreak was previously the largest on record, affecting several countries including Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. It caused widespread devastation and highlighted the challenges of controlling such a virulent disease. The current DR Congo outbreak is now on track to surpass it, making it the biggest ever.
