What is the Nations League for?
The UEFA Nations League was created to replace most international friendlies with competitive matches, making international football more exciting. It also provides an alternative pathway for teams to qualify for the UEFA European Championship and, indirectly, the FIFA World Cup, adding extra stakes to these games beyond just league position.
