What is the House of Commons?

The House of Commons is where elected Members of Parliament (MPs) debate laws and scrutinise the government. It's a central part of the UK's parliamentary democracy. The prime minister's inaugural address there is a significant event, setting out the new government's agenda and vision for the country.
