Explained in plain English

What is 'real' disposable income?

'Real' disposable income means your income adjusted for inflation. So, if your income goes up by 5% but prices (inflation) go up by 3%, your 'real' income has only increased by 2%. It shows how much more you can actually buy, not just how much more cash you have.
