What is quantum spacetime?
Physicists believe our universe is governed by two main theories: quantum mechanics for the very small and general relativity for the very large. They clash when applied to extreme conditions, like black holes or the Big Bang. This new institute at UCL will explore if spacetime itself, the fabric of our universe, might have quantum properties, meaning it's not smooth but made of tiny, discrete units.
