Explained in plain English

What is Disability Living Allowance?

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a benefit for children and people who started claiming before 2013, to help with extra costs of a long-term health condition or disability. For adults, DLA has largely been replaced by Personal Independence Payment (PIP) since 2013, which is why fewer 50-year-olds are now on DLA compared to younger claimants.
