What is 'attitude control'?

In space, 'attitude control' refers to a spacecraft's orientation or pointing direction. For the Link spacecraft, an issue with this system meant it couldn't properly position itself to capture the Swift telescope. Maintaining precise attitude is crucial for everything from pointing instruments to communicating with Earth, and a malfunction can jeopardise an entire mission.
