What is a 'transfer'?

When a player 'finalises a move' to another club, like Curtis Jones to Inter Milan, it's called a transfer. This means one club sells a player's contract to another club, usually for a fee. Transfers can happen for many reasons, including a player wanting new challenges or a club needing to raise funds.
