What is a recall?

A product recall is when a manufacturer asks customers to return a product because of a safety defect. In this case, Volkswagen and Audi are recalling nearly three million cars due to a potential steering fault. Recalls are common in the automotive industry and are usually initiated by the manufacturer or a government safety agency to prevent accidents and protect consumers.
