What is a balaclava?

A balaclava is a type of headwear that covers the whole head, exposing only part of the face. While often worn for warmth, as seen with some protesters at Dover, it can also be used to conceal identity. This can raise questions about accountability and the intentions of those wearing them during public demonstrations.
