What are the Perseids?

The Perseid meteor shower, featured in the story, is one of the most reliable and spectacular annual meteor showers. It gets its name because the meteors appear to originate from the constellation Perseus. The debris comes from Comet Swift-Tuttle, which orbits the Sun every 133 years.
