What are submarine drones?

Submarine drones, or unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), are remotely operated or autonomous machines used for various tasks, from scientific research to military surveillance. The US Navy uses them for reconnaissance and data collection. The drone captured by Iran was an older model, suggesting it might have been on a routine mission rather than a highly sensitive one.
