Explained in plain English

What are protest rights in the UK?

In the UK, the Human Rights Act 1998 protects the right to protest peacefully, under Article 10 (freedom of expression) and Article 11 (freedom of assembly). However, these rights are not absolute and can be restricted if necessary and proportionate, for example, to prevent disorder or protect others' rights.
