How does this fraud work?

Friday afternoon fraud, or email scams, targets people making large payments like house deposits. Criminals intercept emails between homebuyers and solicitors, then send fake bank details for the payment. The scam often happens on a Friday, hoping the money will be transferred before the fraud is discovered over the weekend, making it harder to recover.
