How do kidneys affect the heart?

Your kidneys and heart are closely linked. When kidneys struggle, they can't filter waste or balance fluids properly, putting extra strain on your heart. This can worsen existing heart conditions or even cause new ones, which is why these new European rules emphasise early kidney testing for heart patients.
