Young Brits now pick tea over alcohol to prepare for big events

Twinings' research shows 47% of 18 to 27-year-olds favour tea over alcohol for daunting occasions. Historically, sweet tea was considered a form of first aid, with 1950 army manuals suggesting it for wounded soldiers. A UCL study found tea helped reduce stress hormone cortisol by 47% after stressful tasks.
