Xbox unlikely to bring back disc drives to beat PS6

Microsoft is unlikely to include disc drives in its next console despite Sony stopping physical game production by January 2028. Digital Foundry’s John Linneman heard Microsoft planned a drive for legacy support, but new CEO Asha Sharma may change that. Boxed media makes up a tiny fraction of Xbox sales, and industry experts doubt the firm will invest in disks.
