Why no big party will fight Farage in Clacton

The boycott is a gamble that an easy win means nothing, denying Farage the establishment fight he wants. Labour, the Conservatives, the Lib Dems, the Greens and Restore Britain all refused this week to contest the by-election Farage triggered by resigning his Clacton seat. He quit as a Commons standards case looms over a £5m payment, leaving comedian Count Binface as his best-known challenger.
