Why men with heart disease face higher cancer risk
A 25-year tracking project of 22,000 Britons revealed that smoking, obesity and excessive alcohol consumption drive this trend. Academics from Keele and Aberdeen universities showed that 17.3% of males with cardiovascular problems contract the illness, compared to 12.8% of women. These male patients also experience higher death rates from stomach, lung and oesophageal tumours than those with healthy hearts.
