Why hasn't the funeral industry been regulated yet?
The UK funeral industry has no statutory regulator, letting operators join a voluntary association whose codes of practice are not enforced. Hull's Robert Bush was jailed 20 years on 31 July for offences affecting over 300 victims, months after a similar Gosport case. Families now want mandatory regulation, and ministers say a full response to the 2024 Fuller Report is still due this year.
