Why are England's junior doctors calling off strikes?

A new pay-and-jobs deal: resident doctors in England, formerly called junior doctors, have voted to accept the government's offer, ending their dispute with ministers. The British Medical Association confirmed the result this week. Hospital consultants remain in a separate row, with the BMA seeking fresh talks after members backed a strike mandate. The resident doctors' deal removes one major flashpoint for the NHS.
