Why Apple Just Blocked UK Users From Its Strongest Privacy Settings
The technology firm lodged a case at the Investigatory Powers Tribunal to stop ministers taking the secure cloud backups of British users. Yvette Cooper, the former home secretary, originally ordered the company to bypass its own security using national surveillance laws. Instead of weakening its systems, the iPhone maker chose to block UK customers from turning on its strongest privacy settings.
