Why AI is creating, not killing, US software jobs

US software development job postings have risen by almost 15% since Claude Code launched in February 2025, even as overall job postings fell by 7%. The rebound is concentrated in senior roles, making up 71% of the increase, and 37% of new jobs mention AI in their title. The trend indicates a move away from AI eliminating jobs and towards it generating them, particularly for seasoned professionals capable of collaborating with AI.
