Village near RAF Fairford evacuated as men held over explosives
Police declared a major incident and evacuated homes in Whelford, near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, on Sunday after several men were arrested on suspicion of Explosives Act offences. An Army bomb disposal team is examining a number of vehicles, and residents have been taken to a nearby leisure centre. RAF Fairford hosts the United States Air Force, and police said they were following well-rehearsed plans.
