Venezuela earthquake death toll rises to 3,811 people
More than 3,800 people have now died in Venezuela after two strong earthquakes struck the country on June 24, causing widespread damage. The 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude quakes hit within seconds of each other, damaging or destroying an estimated 80% of buildings in the affected region. Interim President Delcy Rodríguez has defended the emergency response, as international rescue teams finish searching for survivors.
