Vandals cover Washington's World War Two memorial in soap suds and paint
Police and National Guard troops cordoned off the monument on Thursday after someone wrote "Clean hands Dirty $" in red and green. Workers have started cleaning the site, which was built in 2004 to honour the 400,000 Americans who died during the conflict. The US Interior Department, the government branch running national parks, promised to find whoever poured bubbly liquid into the main fountain.
