US will pay German firm RWE $1.2bn to end offshore wind projects

America's Department of the Interior will pay German energy firm RWE $1.2bn to scrap its planned offshore wind farms in the US. The Trump administration has reached this deal to halt offshore wind projects, letting RWE reinvest the money into gas projects. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated that the American public merits an energy framework founded on practicality, rather than expensive subsidies.
