US widens ban on Chinese telecom and surveillance gear
It's another escalation in the US-China tech standoff, this time targeting Chinese kit already widely used in American networks and buildings. The Federal Communications Commission said on Friday it will extend a 2022 ban to older gear from Huawei, ZTE and Hikvision, citing security. The rules cover gear used in critical infrastructure and government sites and take effect in July.
