US to impose new tariffs on 60 economies this week

The US is imposing fresh duties, ranging from 10% to 12.5%, on products originating from 60 nations, including Taiwan, as a measure against forced labour. "Plan C" supersedes a temporary tariff due to lapse on July 24, drawing its authority from the Trade Act of 1974's Section 301. Trade experts say these tariffs will be much harder to remove than previous ones.
