US strikes Iran after Apache helicopter shot down
In retaliation for the shooting down of a US army Apache helicopter, the United States initiated attacks on Iran. President Trump held Tehran responsible for the army gunship's destruction; the aircraft's occupants were subsequently recovered by an unmanned aerial vehicle in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz. These strikes were ordered by Trump in direct response to the helicopter incident itself.
