US Navy Secretary leaves post during Iran blockade

Washington just lost the civilian boss running America's navy in the middle of its biggest operation in decades. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced today that Navy Secretary John Phelan is departing the Trump administration "effective immediately," with no reason given for the sudden exit. Undersecretary Hung Cao takes over as acting secretary while the US Navy continues its blockade of Iranian ports.
