US bond yields hit 20-year high as Iran tensions rise
Long-term US government bond yields have surged to their highest point in over two decades, driven by ongoing tensions between America and Iran. The 30-year Treasury yield reached about 5.322% on Tuesday, just below its 2002 peak. A 60-day peace deal deadline between the US and Iran expired, with Iran ruling out an extension and threatening an "offensive stance" if talks fail.
