US becomes the world's biggest oil exporter

It's a historic turnaround for a country once crippled by oil embargoes, and it hands Washington a powerful new lever. US exports of crude and fuels hit about 10.5 million barrels a day in May, overtaking both Saudi Arabia and Russia, Reuters reported. Shale output plus the war with Iran, which has choked Saudi shipments, drove the shift, the third month running.
