US and China to hold AI safety talks mid-September

The first official US-China AI talks since President Donald Trump began his second term will focus on monitoring AI-directed cyberattacks. Washington plans to propose that AI labs in both countries "police themselves" and share safety data to prevent AI-linked cyber incidents. These discussions are a prelude to a September 24 summit between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
