UN warns record El Niño is ‘supersizing’ and could shatter temperature records

The UN says the El Niño climate event is growing fast and is near certain to make 2027 the hottest year ever. El Niño, which causes rising ocean temperatures, is forecast to peak at about 4C above average in November. The World Food Programme warned it will likely push around 50 million people into severe hunger.
