The government will put £100m into a brand new national AI Biosecurity Lab in Wednesday's Budget, aiming to strengthen Britain's defences against emerging biological threats. Chancellor John Healey said he wanted a distinctively British approach to AI that protects working people. OpenAI and Anthropic will provide £200m worth of AI model credits, while further millions will go on several new cyber and AI security projects.
