UK records lowest October sunshine in sixty years

Provisional figures from the Met Office indicate the UK saw only 63.3 hours of sunshine in October 2025, the lowest since 1968 and 1960. This ranks as the third least sunny October since records began in 1910. Widespread cloud cover, frequent storms, and unsettled conditions limited sunlight nationwide. Despite the lack of sunshine, average temperatures for October remained higher than usual across the UK.
