UK inflation is expected to reach 2.9% after energy bills rose 13%

The average household will now pay £1,862 a year for gas and electricity following the summer price hike. Ofgem, the energy watchdog, let suppliers raise bills by £221 in July, which economists warn will wipe out recent progress. Official figures on Wednesday are expected to show this change pulling the country away from the Bank of England's 2% target.
