UK government to apologise for forced adoption
This apology addresses a "shameful period" in the country's history, following a committee report urging ministers to act. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson confirmed on Wednesday that the Prime Minister will soon make a full apology on behalf of the state. It relates to an estimated 185,000 children taken from unmarried mothers in England and Wales between 1949 and 1976.
