A 19-year-old has become the first person in the UK to have his own testicular tissue transplanted back, after it was frozen three years ago before chemotherapy for a serious blood disorder left him without sperm. NHS Lothian medics in Edinburgh carried out the operation in August, only the second worldwide. Doctors should know within months whether it works, offering hope to boys facing chemotherapy.
