Turkmenistan begins fixing massive methane leaks after UN alerts

Turkmenistan has repaired eight leaks from its old oil and gas sites, previously making it the world's worst for methane super-emitters. These leaks release tonnes of methane per hour, a gas that traps heat 80 times more effectively than carbon dioxide. The UN said this is an "incredible first step", but Turkmenistan still has many more leaks to address.
