Trump says rejecting data centres makes communities "backwards and poor"

President Trump has criticised local opposition to data centres, arguing that communities turning them away risk becoming "backwards and poor". His comments come despite recent polls showing many of his own voters oppose new data centres due to concerns over electricity costs. Vice President JD Vance also said on Monday that 99% of the backlash comes from projects raising utility bills for locals.
