A potential shift in the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran has been indicated by recent statements. US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Iran, via its new leadership, has asked for a ceasefire. Trump added that the US would consider this request once the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and clear, otherwise threatening to "blast Iran into oblivion." Iran has not yet responded to Trump's claim.
