Trump calls Canada a 'state' as US-Canada trade war begins

The US has imposed 50% tariffs on about £14.6bn of Canadian goods, with Canada’s prime minister vowing to match them. Donald Trump posted on social media that Canada desires the advantages of statehood without actually being a state. The tariff escalation also questions the future of the North American USMCA trade pact.
