Train drivers get 3.6% pay rise after strike threats

Train drivers on London-Manchester and other routes will get a 3.6% pay rise, above inflation, after Avanti West Coast and the Aslef union reached an agreement. The agreement, which also includes time-and-a-half pay for Sundays, comes after the union planned to ballot members on strike action. The Department for Transport said it was pleased to see a fair and affordable settlement reached.
