TikTok avoids lawsuit by paying Alabama $100m and limiting teen app use
TikTok will give Alabama a minimum of $100m and implement fresh limitations for its adolescent users, thereby sidestepping a court case. The "first-in-the-nation settlement" includes a two-hour daily time limit, restricted access overnight, and a ban on beauty filters for teens. Alabama's Attorney General Steve Marshall called it a "great day for Alabama parents," saying it offers real protections from social media addiction.
