Frances Tiafoe, the eleventh seed, overturned a deficit of two sets and a break to defeat fellow American Alex Michelsen. The 28-year-old Tiafoe won 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-3 7-6 (10-6) to reach his third US Open semi-final. Michelsen, 22, was in tears after the match, and Tiafoe embraced and consoled him at the net.
